With his knowledge and experience of beer he was contacted 10 years ago by the Royal Ontario Museum. The museum was looking for wealthy donors for an expedition they were going to send over to Europe to excavate an old Roman brewery. Brewmaster offered to fund the entire expedition with the condition that if any beer recipes were to be found he would have access to them.
The plan worked out in spades. The expedition uncovered 4 recipes. The Brewmaster, always up for a challenge decided to try to brew these and see how they turned out.
One of the recipes really peaked his interest, for it was not your typical beer recipe.
“This recipe needed crops grown in a certain period of time,” explains Brewmaster. “Literally the stars have to be aligned to get these crops grown right under these conditions. The Roman Brewmaster’s would brew with these crops during time frame so the beer would be ready for the Days of the Great Orgy. If the weather did not cooperate or if the crops failed then the beer would not be ready and the Great Orgy would not take place.”
“Unlike the Romans, I have modern farming technology. I also have contacts who can provide me with the crops the recipe demands. With the money I’ve made from selling my microbrewery I can travel the world hand select these crops myself.”
